Day 7 - Buffalo'd for sure, pardner

Decided to see where our buffalo steaks from the night before had come from, so went to a little (65,000 acre) ranch about 30 miles outside Gillette. We just drove up the drive and eventually found a hired hand who nicely told us what field off the main highway we could find animals. Then we were off for Buffalo Bill Cody land, driving in and over the Big Horn area ending in Cody, WY, home of Buffalo Bill Cody. Reached our highest altitude for this half of the trip, 9,000 feet. Cody is located very near the east entrance to Yellowstone and is very tourist dependent. At this time of year, there weren't many of us, especially with the east entrance to the park still closed for the winter.
